BCB PREVIEW: BREAKERS AND HOODS MEET BACK-TO-BACK ON HALLOWEEN
The BCB League heads into another exciting weekend, with six intriguing fixtures over Halloween.
With the early-season league table taking shape, teams will look to build momentum, make a statement against rivals, and establish themselves among the early contenders.
Summary
- Milton Keynes and Nottingham to face off twice
- Unbeaten Hemel and Reading hit the road
- Newcastle aim to rebound against Birmingham
Milton Keynes Breakers and Nottingham Hoods will complete their season series this weekend, with the first game at Bletchley on Saturday, followed by both sides heading up the M1 to the East Midlands on Sunday.
The Breakers have made a competitive start to their league campaign, with Nickolas Woodard remaining an important offensive weapon, averaging 23.0 points and 6.3 rebounds per game.
Nottingham, meanwhile, have players who can cause problems at the other end, led by Cameron Kahn, who is currently putting up 20.6 points on 52 per cent from the floor.
One of the weekend's most interesting contests sees Yorkshire Dragons welcome an unbeaten Hemel Storm side.
Hemel's unbeaten league record is built on contributions from several players, mainly Jabari Nurse and Brayden Inger.
On the flip side, Yorkshire have had a tougher start than they hoped, after a successful BCB Trophy group phase, but their roster has plenty of talent. Corey Johnson went for 30 points against the Aldermore Reading Rockets last weekend, while Jordan Jefferson remains another key offensive option.
Speaking of Reading, they will put their undefeated streak on the line as they travel to the Loughborough Riders on Saturday.
The Berkshire outfit have made an excellent start to their title defence and remain one of the teams to beat, with the combination of Jaxon Nap and Mo Walker particularly impressive.
Loughborough will need their leading scorer Kurtis Henderson to be at his best. Henderson is currently third in the BCB with 25.8 points per game.
Elsewhere, Newcastle Knights will be looking to bounce back from a difficult run of results when they host the City of Birmingham Rockets at Newcastle University.
After a four-game road trip, the Bristol Hurricanes are at home for the first time this season, as they take on third-placed Derby Trailblazers, and London Cavaliers will look to the evergreen Juan Manning to steer them to victory, but standing in their way are the Essex Rebels, who boast the duo of Aliou Cisse and Tre Baumgardner.
