BCB TEAM OF THE WEEK (TROPHY, WEEK 2)

The second weekend of the BCB Trophy delivered the same excitement and intensity as the opening weekend, along with stunning performances.

It was a perfect week for the Worthing Thunder as they continued their unbeaten start with wins against Essex Rebels and the London Cavaliers. Justin Hopkins was at the heart of it all, amassing 28 points, six rebounds, and two steals on Saturday on the road against the Rebels in an 86-73 win, followed by a 25-point performance the next day in the 87-77 win against London. He also added six rebounds and five assists to his total

David Ulph secured what is now a customary double-double in Yorkshire Dragons’ 86-60 triumph over the Derby Trailblazers. Ulph went 7-for-8 from the field as he tallied 15 points while also pulling down 16 rebounds.

The invited NBL Division 1 teams came to play in week two, and none more so than the Gloucester City Kings, as they enjoyed two wins and Elvisi Dusha starred in both of those, going for 31 points and 11 assists in his side’s 106-84 victory over the Bristol Flyers II, then hitting four triples for 17 points to go with nine assists in Gloucester’s 74-63 win at home to Cardiff Met Archers.

Hemel Storm handed the City of Birmingham Rockets their first loss in their BCB Trophy title defence, 98-73. Jabari Nurse led the way for the Storm as he amassed 18 points, seven rebounds, four assists and four steals.

And Aldermore Reading Rockets’ new boy, Jaxon Nap, guided his side to victory over the weekend. Nap had a double-double of 25 points and 10 rebounds, along with four assists and three steals, as the Rockets comfortably saw off Portsmouth Force 87-64.
