BCB TEAM OF THE WEEK (WEEK 22)

There were some outstanding performances in Week 22 of the BCB as the standings provided more twists and turns.

With many standout stats, as always, the Team of the Week was a tough call, but here are the main five for Week 22.

Ronald Blain (City of Birmingham Rockets)

Ronald Blain has been coming into form at the right time for the City of Birmingham Rockets, and the American came up big against his former club, the Newcastle Knights, on Saturday. Blain went 9-for-11 from the field, hit three triples for 27 points, eight rebounds and three steals in the Rockets’ 111-102 win in Newcastle.

 Zack Powell (City of Birmingham Rockets)

Not to be outdone, Zack Powell was able to match Blain’s points total of 27 points, but added 12 assists and pulled down six rebounds. Powell shot 10-for-19 from the floor and went 7-for-8 from the free-throw line in the Rockets’ important victory.

 Charlie Brown (Derby Trailblazers)

Pass-first point guard Charlie Brown came up with one of the games of his career on Saturday as he played a key role in the Derby Trailblazers 94-86 victory over the Milton Keynes Breakers. Normally, a player who takes on average just one shot per game, Brown went 4-for-5 from the floor to post 11 points, but dished out 12 assists, pulled down eight rebounds and two steals without a turnover in the win.

 Darien Nelson-Henry (Hemel Storm)

Darien Nelson-Henry turned back the clock for Hemel Storm as they overcame the Worthing Thunder 101-94 in a fast-paced, free-flowing battle. Nelson-Henry shot 75 percent for his 19 points, grabbed 10 rebounds, six assists and three blocks in a dominant display to put Thunder to the sword.

 Juan Manning (London Cavaliers) 

Juan Manning hit his season-high over the weekend in the London Cavaliers’ 110-70 victory over the Bristol Flyers II. Manning canned six three-pointers and shot 61 percent from the field for his 33 points and four assists in an offensive masterpiece.
