Share
It was a historic weekend in the BCB, as the first title winners were confirmed and the last two playoff places were also sealed, with incredible individual performances.
A glittering week of basketball means that the Team of the Week selection – as ever – were extremely difficult.
Bradley Dean (Newcastle Knights)
The Newcastle Knights returned to winning ways this past Saturday, having seen their title hopes take a severe hit. They defeated the Hemel Storm 119-104 in a high-octane battle. Bradley Dean was highly instrumental in the Knights’ success. He hit four three-pointers and scored 40 points, along with five rebounds and three steals.
JaRon Thames (Newcastle Knights)
Dean wasn’t alone, as the evergreen JaRon Thames matched his team-mate’s points tally, going for 40 points, nine boards and two steals in a deserved win in Hemel Hempstead. Thames also shot 78 percent from the field.
Eric Donaldson (City of Birmingham Rockets)
You can’t have a Team of the Week without the MVP in the building. Eric Donaldson shot a perfect 7-for-7 from the field in the City of Birmingham Rockets’ 85-66 win over the Yorkshire Dragons in the BCB Trophy final, finishing with 19 points and seven rebounds, good enough to win the MVP award in a stellar showing.
Jai Pathmarajah (Derby Trailblazers)
The Derby Trailblazers secured a well-earned playoff spot on Saturday, as they defeated the Worthing Thunder 91-83, which ended Worthing’s playoff hopes. The man at the heart of it was Jai Pathmarajah, who had 26 points, six rebounds and four steals in a sublime performance.
Bryce Johnson (Nottingham Hoods)
Bryce Johnson has been prolific throughout March, and he was once again the instigator behind the Nottingham Hoods’ 89-57 success over the Essex Rebels, which ended the Rebels’ hopes of reaching the playoffs. Johnson had 22 points, nine rebounds, three assists and three steals to put Essex to the sword.
