On a monumental weekend of BCB action, there were key performances from players looking to build momentum ahead of the playoffs and finish the season strong.
Here are this week’s top performers.
Bryce Johnson (Nottingham Hoods)
Fresh off collecting the Molten BCB Player of the Month award for March, Nottingham Hoods star Bryce Johnson wasn’t keen on merely settling; instead, he continued where he left off last month by pouring in 22 points on 9-for-12 shooting, pulling down a monster 18 rebounds, along with six assists and three steals in the Hoods 101-81 success over the Milton Keynes Breakers.
Denzel Ubiaro (Bristol Hurricanes)
Bristol Hurricanes have missed out on the playoffs this season, but regardless of their results, they have been an exciting team to watch. On Saturday, they claimed their biggest scalp of the campaign with a 94-82 win over the Newcastle Knights. Veteran Denzel Ubiaro had a barn-stormer with 29 points on 63 percent shooting, three rebounds, three steals and two blocks.
Darien Nelson-Henry (Hemel Storm)
What a way to sign off from the Hemel Storm. Darien Nelson-Henry capped off his basketball career with 23 points, nine rebounds, shooting 9-for-12 from the floor in the Storm’s 89-86 victory over the Yorkshire Dragons.
Ronald Blain (City of Birmingham Rockets)
Fresh off their BCB Trophy win last Saturday, Ronald Blain continued where he left off as he bagged 22 points, 11 rebounds and eight assists against his former club Worthing Thunder in a narrow 89-84 victory at home.
Donell Nixon (Nottingham Hoods)
Alongside Johnson, team-mate Donell Nixon poured in a double-double in the 101-81 win over the MK Breakers. Nixon hit four three-pointers, going for 24 points, 10 assists along with four rebounds in the impressive road win.
