BCB TEAM OF THE WEEK (WEEK 3)
Share
It was a thrilling weekend of BCB action as two finalists were confirmed for the Trophy, and the Championship is now in full swing.
And there were plenty of jaw-dropping stat lines, with plenty of players, particularly at the guard spots, worthy of a place in this week’s Team of the Week. We’ve narrowed it down to the fabulous five below.
Victor Olarerin (Reading Rockets)
While it was a tough choice this week to pick a top five, it comes as no surprise that Reading Rockets guard Victor Olarerin made the list after breaking a couple of records in his side’s 103-87 win over Essex Rebels. The Londoner exploded for 51 points, a BCB-high and a club record, along with seven rebounds and five assists in a jaw-dropping offensive display.
Nicolas Lewis (Yorkshire Dragons)
Nicolas Lewis has been an offensive juggernaut for the Yorkshire Dragons this season, and he was on the cusp of a triple-double this weekend in his side’s 94-73 win over the Loughborough Riders. The former Great Britain U20 international had 24 points, dished out 12 assists and pulled eight rebounds. Lewis was also part of the Dragons side that reached the BCB Trophy Final on Friday night.
AJ Roberts (London Cavaliers)
Veteran AJ Roberts was a key figure in the London Cavaliers’ 93-90 success over the Derby Trailblazers. Ever the grafter, Roberts had an impressive statsheet stuffer of 18 points on 8-for-14 shooting, six rebounds, two assists and two steals in a thrilling victory.
Corey Johnson (Yorkshire Dragons)
It was a solid weekend’s work for Corey Johnson. He spearheaded the Dragons to the BCB Trophy Final with a 30-point, four-rebound display in the 93-77 win over the Falkirk Fury. He followed that up with 20 points and six rebounds against the Riders.
Donel Nixon (Nottingham Hoods)
Donel Nixon was outstanding for Nottingham Hoods as his side ruined the return of Hemel Storm’s Taylor Johnson and claimed an 89-79 win. Nixon was two rebounds shy of a double-double in his haul, settling for 20 points, eight rebounds and three steals.
