GREAT BRITAIN HEAD TO MANCHESTER FOR FIBA WORLD CUP QUALIFIERS

Marc Steutel’s Great Britain Men will be heading to Manchester in July to close out the first phase of FIBA World Cup qualifying against Iceland, with an exclusive pre-sale for select fans opening this week.

The National Basketball Performance Centre has been selected as the venue for the decisive clash on Sunday, July 5, with Steutel’s side hoping to get the results they need in the final window of this phase to secure their passage to the second round for only the second time in programme history.

GB will head to Manchester for the second clash of the window, following an opening encounter in Lithuania three days prior. Coach Steutel’s side got the better of Iceland in the reverse fixture, running out 90-84 winners in Reykjavik.

Members of the GB family who have bought tickets to games previously and Manchester Basketball fans will be offered an exclusive 48-hour pre-sale window from 12 noon on 21 May, before opening to Home Country Association Members, Super League Basketball and British Basketball Championship newsletter subscribers on 23 May.

Tickets will go on General Sale on 2 June.

Coach Steutel said:

“Every time we have a chance to host a home game, we always want our sixth man to come out and support us and that is our incredible fanbase.

“We’ve had a clear core group of supporters throughout my time involved who have always found a way to give us a little bit extra in the moments we need it most. All of our players and staff, who commit so much to this programme and British basketball, genuinely appreciate when our fans come out and support us as they do.

“We’re excited to be playing Iceland. They’re a very difficult team to compete against, and we’ve already had one close game against them away from home, so we know we’re going to have to be at our best to get the result we need in a very important game, and to do that, our fans will need to play a massive part, so we’re excited to see them there.”

Tickets will be available via fanbaseclub.com
