Nottingham Hoods head coach Vladan Dragosavac has masterminded the team’s rebirth in January, earning him the Molten BCB Coach of the Month honours.
From languishing outside the playoff picture, in 10th place on a 3-8 record, the Hoods have gone on to score five straight wins and move into the thick of the post-season mix.
The New Year revolution began for Nottingham began with a pair of wins over the BCB’s bottom side, Bristol Flyers II.
After a stuttering first quarter, they found their groove in the second to outscore the Flyers 27-10, en route to recording a 103-73 victory.
That was followed by a hard-fought 92-71 win on the south-west a week later, thanks to a 20-point, 11-rebound performance from Bryce Johnson.
The Hoods then overcame the stubborn Derby Trailblazers 84-81 with Tyrone Williams posting his own double-double of 28 points and 12 boards to instil more belief with the Nottingham fanbase.
Three wins on the bounce became four, as they avenged their earlier loss to the Bristol Hurricanes by beating them 96-78 on the road.
And the Hoods saved the big scalp for last, as they toppled the joint league leaders, Newcastle Knights, 94-83 in a polished performance that was all drawn up by Dragosavac.
