READING'S VICTOR OLARERIN CALLED UP FOR GB DUTY THIS SUMMER

After a stellar season with the Aldermore Reading Rockets, Victor Olarerin has been invited to Great Britain’s training camp ahead of the FIBA 3x3 Europe Cup.

It caps off what has been a tremendous season for Olarerin, who won the inaugural British Championship Basketball League title and reached the Playoff final.

To add, Olarerin’s imprint was all over the end-of-season awards, as he made it to the BCB’s British Player of the Year and Team of the Year, along with being named the league’s British Player of the Year, averaging 19.1 points, 5.6 rebounds and 2.3 steals per game.

More about the FIBA 3x3 Europe Cup

The landmark European tournament for the 3x3 format brings together the best players in the world, who will compete in Antwerp, Belgium, from September 11-13.

But for Great Britain, they must first book their spot for the tournament, as they will head to the Romanian capital, Bucharest, for their qualifier, which takes place on June 16-17.

They must reach the final to secure their ticket to the FIBA 3x3 Europe Cup. There are five spots available, with Austria, Spain, Czechia, Ukraine, Greece, Romania, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Estonia, Denmark and Sweden all fighting for those coveted spots.

Last year’s winners Lithuania, Serbia, France, Netherlands, Germany, Latvia and hosts Belgium have directly qualified for September’s tournament.
