About the Club

Basketball has a rich history in our town, with the Hemel Hempstead Lakers first attracting TV broadcasters and fans in the late 20th century, when they achieved promotion to Division One. Rebranded versions of the team included Ovaltine Hemel Hempstead and Hemel Royals and today's Hemel Storm were born in 2010, taking over from Edmonton Royals to end a 13-year long basketball drought in the town. Since Division One promotion in 2012, the club has gone from strength to strength, winning plentiful silverware and even going undefeated in the 2022/23 campaign to claim a quadruple of trophies. Last season's league champions regularly fill the StormDome with more than 600 keen supporters, young and old alike, and are proud of their role in bringing together the local community.
