BCB WEEK 4: THUNDER CONTINUE UNBEATEN START; KNIGHTS ALSO IMPRESS

Worthing Thunder continued to set the pace in the BCB Championship after the latest round of games to start November.

Meanwhile, Yorkshire Dragons and Newcastle Knights continue to hang around at the top after a thrilling weekend of action.

Sunday’s game between the Reading Rockets and the City of Birmingham Rockets was postponed due to a leak in the roof at Loddon Valley. The game will be rescheduled soon.

Recap

Worthing Thunder remain flawless after they toppled Essex Rebels 92-79, with Justin Hopkins and Adrian Scarborough collecting impressive double-doubles.

Hopkins had 27 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Thunder, with Scarborough adding 16 points and 11 boards, as Worthing raced out to a 30-17 lead after the first quarter and never looked back, dominating the Rebels on the glass 65-36.

Bode Adeluola had 14 points and nine assists, and Matthew Bryan-Amaning had nine points and 13 rebounds to flirt with double-doubles as well. Tom Child led Essex with 18.

Newcastle Knights continued their hot start to the season after beating the London Cavaliers 83-67 on Tyneside.

After a strong start, the Knights were pegged back by the Cavs but still went into the fourth quarter with a 56-55 lead. Newcastle then went up a gear and outscored London 27-12 to secure victory.

JaRon Thames was outstanding throughout, posting 29 points and 10 rebounds for the winners, who have won three out of their last four. Bradley Dean added 19 points as well. Daniel Braster had 26 for London, who dropped their second game of the season.

Yorkshire Dragons saw six players in double figures for points as they defeated Hemel Storm 103-92 to improve to 3-1.

Jordan Whelan had 22 points to lead the Dragons, with Corey Johnson and Logan Rooney adding 18 points. David Ulph collected a double-double of 17 points and 10 rebounds.

Nottingham Hoods got the better of the Derby Trailblazers 91-90 on the road with a three-pointer from Donnell Nixon with nearly 30 seconds left, ultimately sealing the win.

That triple gave the Hoods a 91-89 lead. Derby had an opportunity on the following possession but turned the ball over and were only able to register a single free throw in that period.

Tyrone Williams led the Hoods with 22 points, cancelling out Evan Oliver’s game-high 32 for Derby.

Milton Keynes Breakers posted an 88-69 victory over the Bristol Hurricanes with Xavier Wilson and Luke Gregory getting 16 points apiece.

And Loughborough Riders breezed past Bristol Flyers II 106-52, thanks to a 20-point, 10-rebound double-double in just 23 minutes from Tomide Akinsuku.
